Torrey Trading Post Located Near Capitol Reef National Park

Torrey Trading Post can be found in the heart of Wayne County in South-Central part of  Utah in a town called Torrey. Torrey Trading Post is only 6 miles from the entrance to Capitol Reef National Park. Torrey Trading Post is located 216 miles from Salt Lake City, UtahTorrey Trading Post is located on Main street under the tunnel of trees in downtown Torrey, Utah. Torrey Trading Post is home of the Torrey Post Office.

The town was settled in the 1880’s by Mormon pioneers. Legend has it that Torrey was named after Colonel Jay L. Torrey who was in charge of  the Rough Riders at the time of obtaining their first United States Post Office. Theodore Roosevelt took one of the Rough Rider units and later became famous.  Colonel Jay L. Torrey also ran against Theodore Roosevelt in the race to become Vice President of the United States of America.

The population of the town Torrey, Utah is only 180. But it is estimated that as many live in the area around Torrey, Utah. The following towns can be found around Torrey, Utah: Bicknell, Caineville, Fremont, Grover, Hanksville, Loa, Lyman, and Teasdale. The elevation is 6830 feet, making the summers very pleasant.
